Walter Laid Floors for Five Years Before He Ever Sold One

Ozzifloors is run by Walter Soares Camozzi out of Coconut Creek. He built it from an Instagram account and a phone full of job videos, and he still takes the calls himself.

Where he learned it

Five Years as a Flooring Installer

Before there was a company, there were five years of installing floors for one of the larger flooring outfits in South Florida. Not selling floors. Installing them. Slab prep, tear-outs, transitions, the whole day-in-day-out of it.

That’s a specific kind of education. You learn what a slab looks like when it’s going to cause a problem in two years. You learn which products install clean and which ones fight you at every doorway. You learn what happens when somebody promises a customer something the crew can’t deliver, because you’re the one standing in the living room when it comes apart.

Walter is Brazilian, and he came into the trade the way a lot of good installers do, which is by doing the work for years before anybody handed him a price sheet.

How it started

How Ozzifloors Started

There was no launch. There was an Instagram account and money going out.

Ozzifloors started with ads on Instagram. Walter put money in and nothing came back. He did it again the next month, and the month after that. After three months of paying for advertising with very little to show for it, he came close to shutting the whole thing down.

He didn’t. He kept spending, kept posting the work, kept filming jobs on his phone. Eventually it turned, and the thing that turned it was the videos. People watched actual floors going into actual houses, saw the same guy show up in every clip, and called him. Customers still tell him that’s why they picked up the phone.

How it runs today

Our Team and Installation Crews

Fifteen in-home appointments a day across three counties, and the same crews on the jobs.

Four people are out running in-home visits across the three counties, about fifteen appointments a day between them. They walk the rooms, measure, and give the price at that same visit.

Six to seven subcontractor crews install for Ozzifloors on a regular basis. They aren’t rotated out of a labor pool job by job. They work with us often enough that Walter knows how each crew works and which jobs to put them on, and they bring their own people. That consistency is most of the reason a whole-house vinyl job actually finishes in two or three days instead of dragging on for two weeks.

Walter dispatches every one of those jobs himself, out of the system the signed contracts drop into. And he still answers the phone at (561) 674-8334. If you call, there’s a real chance you’re talking to the guy who was laying floors before there was a company to call.

The point

Why We Measure and Price in One Visit

Buying a floor is normally a sequence of waits. Wait for somebody to come and measure. Wait for a written estimate to arrive. Wait again for a crew to come free. Then live in a construction site for a week.

We took most of that out. Someone comes to the house, and the measurement and the price happen in that same visit. The signing link comes to your phone. Most whole-home vinyl jobs are torn out and installed in two to three days, and a single room is usually one.

That’s the company. Not complicated, and mostly a matter of refusing to make people wait for things they shouldn’t have to wait for.
